Planner Update: Strategies for a More Organized Life

As I reflect on the past quarter, I’m thrilled to share my planner update and how my planning system has evolved to enhance productivity, focus on health, and celebrate experiences. Each planner serves a unique purpose, creating a cohesive system that supports my goals and well-being.

My Main Planner: The Sterling Ink Common Planner

Let’s start with my main planner, the Sterling Ink Common Planner in size N2. This planner is my everything; it’s where I handle monthly and weekly planning, set goals, and indulge in journaling. While the layout is fantastic, the size can be a bit small to fit my hole life, so I might consider a larger option for next year. Nevertheless, it has served me well this quarter.

One of my favorite sections is the goals pages, where I outline my primary quarterly goal at the top and break it down into actionable steps in the monthly sections. These pages are perfect for implementing planner organization tips that keep me focused and accountable. The trackers allow me to monitor my habits, and I look forward to redesigning this layout for a more visually pleasing experience in the fourth quarter.

The monthly pages provide a delightful overview, and I love decorating them with stickers, adding a splash of creativity to my planning process. Diving into the weekly pages, I’ve found my rhythm since August. Each column has a specific purpose, from tracking day-specific events to listing my main priorities for the week. This structure keeps me focused on what truly matters. I’ve also dedicated a narrow column to my social media calendar, ensuring my content remains consistent and timely.

Each week features unique functional planner spreads adorned with washi tape and stickers, which not only keep everything organized but also add flair to my planning. Daily journaling has become a magical part of my routine, offering a space to express gratitude, reflect, and track personal growth. By pre-decorating these pages, I create an inviting atmosphere that encourages me to write. This quarter, I integrated goal planning and reflections into my daily pages for a more cohesive experience centered around my values and gratitude.

Health Planner: The Hobonichi Weeks

Next is my Hobonichi Weeks, dedicated to self-care and monitoring health. The monthly section allows me to log daily physical activities, and I often reward myself with vibrant stickers to celebrate staying active. My weekly pages are structured into four columns: tracking numbers like steps and calories, logging meals, noting my mood with emojis, and documenting workouts. This planner setup helps me stay mindful of my health and emotional well-being.

Although I faced some inconsistencies in tracking due to illness, I’m focused on getting back on track. My favorite decorative touch is using thin washi strips to separate the columns, keeping everything neat and visually appealing. The tracker pages for migraines and weekly averages have also been essential in helping me understand my health patterns better.

Everyday Carry (EDC): Traveler's Notebook

To simplify my on-the-go planning, in September I created an Everyday Carry with a passport-sized Traveler’s Notebook. This compact addition has been a game changer! I designed a weekly layout for day-specific events and included a note-taking booklet for capturing ideas and reminders. It fits perfectly in my purse, ensuring I can keep track of essential details without the bulk of my main planner.

Social Media Planner: Laurel Denise Portrait Planner

On my desk, I keep my Social Media Calendar, the Laurel Denise Portrait Planner. It features both weekly and monthly views, which help visualize my content plans. I use post-its for brainstorming before committing to the content in pen. While I’m still evaluating whether I need both views, the flexibility and organization it provides are invaluable.

Goal Planner: Makselife Weekly Planner

My goal planner, the Makselife Weekly Planner, was once my go-to for setting and tracking objectives. The Wheel of Life helped me maintain a holistic view, reminding me that not all goals have to be grand; some are about sustaining what I have. However, I found the planner cumbersome for weekly reflections and never utilized the weekly planning pages at all. I conduct my planning and journaling in my main planner, making the Makselife planner feel a bit bulky and less integrated into my overall system.

Despite this decision to streamline my approach, the insights I gained from using this planner have been invaluable in aligning my life with my goals. I’ve opted to focus on integrating my goal planning into my Common Planner, allowing for a simpler, more cohesive system that meets my needs more effectively.

Travel Journal: Documenting Adventures

Lastly, for my travels, I use a standard-sized Traveler’s Notebook. This journal allows me to document adventures without the distraction of everyday tasks. I capture highlights, add photos, and include memorabilia, creating a tangible record of my trips. I love how this setup keeps my travel memories distinct from my regular journal entries, making it easy for anyone to flip through my travel journal without accessing my personal reflections.

Looking Ahead: Seasonal Planning Strategies

As I move into the next quarter, I’m excited to refine my planning system even further. Each planner has played a crucial role in helping me stay organized, focused, and connected to my goals and experiences. I look forward to implementing seasonal planning strategies and refreshing my layouts for the upcoming months. Here’s to continuing this journey and embracing the changes ahead!
