April Knitting Update: Projects, Progress, and a Big Finish
Another month has passed, and it’s time for a cozy roundup of what’s been happening in my knitting world. March brought a mix of big finishes, slow-burning works in progress, and some sweet new yarn additions that have my head spinning with ideas.
Finished Object: My Wedding Dress
Yes—you read that right. I finished knitting my wedding dress! I’ll be dedicating a full blog post and video to the entire process soon, but for now I’ll just say: it’s the most ambitious and meaningful thing I’ve ever made. It involved lace motifs, silk underlayers, pearl embroidery… and more than a few late nights. Stay tuned for the full breakdown.
WIPs: The Imro Dress and Dori Vest
I’ve been loving the balance between structured and improvisational knitting lately. The Imro Dress, knit from stash yarn in rich wine tones, is growing steadily. It started from a vest pattern, but with plenty of modifications, it’s evolving into a full-length dress.
Then there’s the Dori Vest—a sweet brioche stitch layering piece in deep navy Rauma Fivel. It’s slower going, but so satisfying to see the squishy texture take shape.
Most Worn Knit: Porcelain Cardigan
Originally a sweater pattern, I transformed it into a cropped cardigan that fits my wardrobe perfectly. I knit it at a looser gauge and added a button band after steeking—proof that patterns are just suggestions.
This month, I reached for this cardigan more than anything else. It layers beautifully, feels soft and breathable, and just works with everything.
Yarn Acquisitions
Let’s just say… La Bien Aimée had a sale. And yes, I went in with good intentions and came out with colorways I’ve been dreaming about for years.
