Mid-Year Knitting Update: How My 2025 Plans Have Evolved
If you’ve ever looked back at your creative goals and thought, "Well, that took a turn," you’re not alone. This mid-year knitting update is full of joyful surprises, finished knitting projects, unexpected cast-ons, and a few shifts in direction. And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
This post is all about my mid-year knitting update — where I reflect on my 2025 knitting plans, celebrate progress, and embrace change. Whether you're here for inspiration, WIPs, or simply love hearing about personal knitting journeys, you’re in the right place.
June Knitting Update: A Season of Creativity and Change
The past six months have brought some of the most meaningful makes of my life. From the emotional experience of knitting my wedding dress to rediscovering summer favorites and dreaming up new cast-ons, it’s been a season of growth and joy.
Let’s dive into the finished objects, current WIPs, upcoming projects, and what I’ve decided to swap out in favor of what truly sparks joy.
Finished Knitting Projects: A Wedding Dress and Everyday Joys
First up, the most personal and awe-inspiring project I've ever completed: my hand-knitted wedding dress. Inspired by Veronika Lindberg but deeply personalized to reflect my own style, I used Sandnes Garn Sunday in white to create a delicate, romantic piece. The yarn bloomed beautifully on slightly larger needles, resulting in a soft, ethereal fabric. If you want the full story, there's a dedicated video on my wedding dress knitting journey linked in the video description.
Next, the Dori Vest by Rauma Yarn. Crafted with Rauma Fivel in a rich navy, this cropped brioche vest took time but turned out to be a wardrobe staple. The stitch definition, the color, and that practical-meets-playful fit made every stitch worth it.
Works in Progress: Summer Staples and Texture Dreams
Currently on the needles? The Diona Tee by Sari Nordlund. It's the perfect summer knitting project—lightweight with elegant cable detailing. I'm using a silk blend from The Wool Kitchen, which adds a touch of shimmer to every stitch.
I’m also preparing to cast on the Iris Sweater by Trin-Annelie. This beauty features steeking, top-down construction, and striking colorwork. I’ll be knitting it with Holst Supersoft in a soft white base, perfect for warm-weather knitting.
New Cast-Ons and Future Dreams
Coming soon: the Dārta by Inese Sang. Romantic and playful with ruffle details, this piece feels like it belongs in a fairy tale. I’ll be using La Bien Aimée's Helix base, paired with a mohair and fingering combo from The Wandering Flock in Peaches & Dreams.
Also in the queue: the Diamond Jumper by Anne Ventzel. I’m eyeing Rauma Puno, Gepard Puno, or CaMaRose Snefnug in rich jewel tones to highlight the cable texture. This project will be my cozy comfort knit for cooler months.
And for a show-stopping statement? The Nordic Bloom Cardigan by Caitlin Hunter, worked in Vidde from Hillesvåg with bold pink and plum tones. It's oversized, rooted in Nordic tradition, and brimming with modern charm.
Letting Go and Following Joy
Originally, my 2025 knitting goals included the Poetry Pullover and Auguste Sweater. Both are stunning designs, but I realized I need the right mindset for intricate lace and cables.
Instead, I’m casting on the Pearl Sweater by Knitonomy, using leftover yarn from my wedding dress. It's a full-circle moment that brings both beauty and meaning.
Conclusion: What This Knitting Season Taught Me
This mid-year knitting update is a celebration of flexibility, inspiration, and making space for joy in our creative lives. I’ve completed projects that will stay with me forever, embraced the unexpected, and realigned with what feels good right now.
So, tell me—what’s on your needles? Have your knitting plans evolved too?
Let’s keep the conversation going. And as always, keep knitting what brings you joy.
