Make Nine 2025: Knitting Inspiration for Your Handmade Wardrobe
Every new year brings new opportunities to get creative, and for knitters, that means setting our sights on fresh projects. This year, I’m diving into the Make Nine 2025 Knitting Plans—a personal challenge to complete nine thoughtfully chosen knitting projects over the next 12 months.
This list reflects my love of creativity, functionality, and the joy of handmade items. Whether you're considering joining a Knitting Challenge 2025 or looking for some Knitting Project Inspiration, here are the patterns I’ve chosen to knit this year.

What is the Make Nine Challenge?
The Make Nine Challenge is a popular initiative where crafters pick nine projects they want to complete in a year. It’s not about perfection or pressure—it’s about celebrating creativity, exploring new techniques, and creating pieces that align with your style and goals.
For my 2025 list, I’ve chosen a mix of designs that excite me: cozy sweaters, versatile cardigans, a summer tee, and even a hand-knit wedding dress. Each project has a purpose and reflects my vision for a handmade wardrobe.
My 2025 Knitting Projects
1. Diamond Jumper by Anne Ventzel
The Diamond Jumper has stunning cables and elegant twisted rib details. I plan to knit a slightly shorter version and use a blown yarn in rich teal or green to make the texture shine. Yarn options include CaMaRose Snefnug and Gepard Puno, both perfect for this timeless piece.

2. Iris Sweater by Trin-Annelie
This sweater is a standout colorwork design. I’ll create a cropped version in the original Holst Supersoft shades, once they’re back in stock! The pattern’s use of steeks for the armholes and neckline makes it both practical and exciting to knit.

3. Poetry Pullover by Sari Nordlund
The Poetry Pullover’s circular yoke is the perfect showcase for its lace motif. I’m debating between a clean white version or using La Bien Aimée mohair for a soft, playful look. Either way, this DK-weight sweater is bound to become a favorite.

4. Nordic Bloom Cardigan by Caitlyn Hunter
This cardigan celebrates bold Scandinavian floral motifs and oversized comfort. I’m swapping out the suggested yarn for Hillesvåg Vidde, an 80/20 blend of lambswool and pelt wool, in warm pink and deep plum. It’s a joyful project blending tradition and creativity.

5. Diona Tee by Sari Nordlund
This stylish summer tee features delicate cables and ribbing. I’m frogging an old UFO to repurpose a The Wool Kitchen silk blend in light blue with copper speckles. It’s perfect for creating a fresh, warm-weather staple.

6. Auguste Sweater by Johanna Gehrisch
Cables take center stage in this modern yet classic design. I’ll knit it in Isager Eco Baby and Isager Alpakka 1, a luxurious combination that creates a soft and airy fabric. This project feels like the perfect way to bring raglan shoulders back into my wardrobe.

7. DArta by Inese Sang
This blouse from Neons and Naturals combines flowing drape with playful ruffles. I’ll use a neutral yarn, like La Bien Aimée Helix, for the body and experiment with hand-dyed leftovers for the ruffles. It’s a chance to play with color while keeping the overall look elegant.

8. Dori Vest by Rauma Yarn
This fitted vest in brioche stitch is already on my needles! I’m using Rauma Fivel in deep blue, which gives the half-patent texture beautiful definition. The design’s cropped fit and side ties make it a versatile layering piece for work or casual outfits.

9. My Wedding Dress
The most meaningful project of all—a hand-knit wedding dress! Inspired by Veronika Lindberg’s design, I’ll create my own pattern using Sandnes Sunday for its soft, airy texture. This project is equal parts exciting and nerve-wracking, but I can’t wait to create something truly unique for my special day.
